We are presently accepting resumes for a number of permanent Part-time Direct Care Staff to work in our Accommodation Program - O'Brien House. This position supports people with intellectual disabilities with all aspects of their daily living. Duties may include support with finances, medical appointments, personal care, household duties, meal preparation, and supporting individuals to get ready for their daily activities as per their individual choices or plans.
Compensation package:
- Work up to 59.5 hours biweekly;
- Minimum starting rate of pay is $25.16 per hour;
- 11 paid statutory holidays;
- Employer paid confidential Employee Assistance Program for you and your family members;
Following the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period:
- Employer paid benefits (health and life insurance);
- Group RRSP plan;
- Employer paid sick, personal leave and vacation hours.
Minimum requirements for this position include:
- Certificate from an accredited educational facility in the area of elder care, health care or social services;
- Previous experience working with independent elder population; geriatric experience is also an asset;
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office and database experience is required;
- A current clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening, valid "Class G" driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Overview of duties (including, but not limited to):
- Administering and assisting with routine medication dispensing and treatment procedures to meet the personal needs and comfort of individuals and accurately maintaining appropriate records;
- Providing the highest level of personal care and attention to individuals, following individual support plans and ensuring that all contact is respectful and supportive;
- Liaising with other care professionals relating to the care needs of individuals;
- Responsible for making and changing beds, tidying rooms, light cleaning, preparing and serving meals and drinks as required;
- Being an active and encouraging member of the support team; contributing to team meetings.
