Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manager of Production Accounting to lead the financial operations of a dynamic entertainment company with multiple production entities under its umbrella. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, cashflow, compliance, and financial reporting across the group of companies, ensuring operational efficiency, financial integrity, and strategic support for ongoing and future productions.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable overseeing complex multi-entity structures in a fast-paced creative environment.

Responsibilities:

Finance & Banking Oversight

  • Manage all banking operations: cheque signing, wire transfers, intercompany transfers, payroll, and currency exchanges.
  • Monitor and forecast cashflow up to 12 months ahead; maintain strong banking relationships.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for parent company and subsidiaries.
  • Prepare/reconcile balance sheet accounts; support audits and year-end processes.
  • Ensure timely CRA filings (HST, source deductions, corporate taxes) and maintain fixed asset register.

Company & Production Setup

  • Oversee setup of new companies: legal, CRA, banking, payroll, and Sage configuration.
  • Supervise production accounting to ensure accurate cost reports, payroll, and tax compliance.

Payroll & Benefits

  • Partner with Payroll Admin to process employee/contractor payroll (Nethris) and issue T4/T4A slips.

Month-End & Year-End

  • Complete journal entries, reporting, intercompany invoicing, and Sage year-end rollovers.

Government & Regulatory

  • Manage CRA queries, audits, and correspondence.
  • File federal/provincial tax credits and required government reports.

Financial Analysis & Strategy

  • Provide monthly analysis on marketing, RPTs, taxes, and per-project income.
  • Advise leadership on tax planning, cashflow, and strategic financial decisions.

Stakeholder Relations

  • Act as key contact for auditors, banks, lawyers, clients, and vendors.
  • Work with leadership to support financial planning for productions.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Experience in media, entertainment, or production accounting is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial position.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage; experience with other financial management tools is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting principles, account analysis techniques, and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
