The RoleThe RECE Specialist ensures every Sentient educator is set up for success, from onboarding and shift matching to professional development and recognition. You'll build close relationships with staff, provide in-person feedback and coaching, and oversee initiatives that keep quality and engagement at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the consistent point of contact for over 300 supply staff.
- Match educators to shifts based on strengths, availability, and career goals.
- Lead the Quality Assurance Program by visiting centres, observing performance, and providing constructive feedback.
- Coach staff when issues arise in-centre.
- Oversee the Apprenticeship Program, supporting staff in obtaining their RECE designation.
- Administer the Sentient PERKS recognition program and plan incentive bonuses.
- Research industry trends and maintain relationships with childcare associations.
- Serve as emergency supply staff if required.
- Plan and deliver at least five professional development courses per year.
- Write monthly articles for the staff newsletter and lead the annual Staff Appreciation Event.
- Early Childhood Education Diploma from an accredited institution (or equivalent).
- Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (in good standing).
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check.
- Up-to-date immunization record (as per Ministry requirements).
- Minimum two years' experience working with children aged 18 months–6 years (school-age experience an asset).
- Strong understanding of the Early Years Act and Toronto's Assessment for Quality Improvement.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changing needs.
