Pathways to Independence requires one (1) Regular Part-Time Recreation & Program Facilitators (RPF), to join the team.
The RPF is responsible to develop and implement community recreational and educational programs for adults with developmental disabilities or complex needs, based on their unique needs, interests and abilities. The RPF works with other members of the person's support team to ensure responsive programs are created and implemented to support the person's development of social and personal living skills using a variety of tools and techniques.
The successful candidate must have the following skills/qualifications:
- A post- secondary diploma or degree from a human services field and specialized education, training, or certification in developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury, dual diagnosis, mental health, disability studies, behaviour intervention, social work or psychology.
- Specialized education, training, or certification in therapeutic recreation:
- Knowledge of, and experience in, program planning, design, and evaluation techniques for adults with developmental disabilities or complex needs; and
- Valid G class driver's license.
- Current First Aid and CPR.
- Crisis Prevention Certification preferred.
- Regular attendance is a requirement for this position.
Ideal candidates will also have experience and abilities aligned with the key responsibilities for this position, which includes:
- Experience working with adults with a developmental disability, or dual diagnosis, in a therapeutic recreational, group living or independent living environment.
- Demonstrating a client centered philosophy and commitment to agency vision, mission, and guiding principles.
- Providing effective services and supports to supported persons.
- Managing and maintaining accurate client information and documentation; and
- Participating and ensuring a positive team environment.
Working Conditions for this position include:
- Varied hours of work including days, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays.
- May work with clients who have aggressive behaviour.
- Program activities may occur outside and in inclement weather.
