Position Summary:As a Senior Buyer at AMPCO, you will play a critical role in executing the procurement strategy for materials, components, and services essential to our operations. Your responsibilities will focus on sourcing, supplier management, cost optimization, assisting in project coordination, ensuring deliverables are met and ensuring the timely acquisition of high-quality inputs required for our manufacturing processes.Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute procurement activities by placing orders, tracking shipments, and maintaining accurate records within the ERP system.
  • Maintain efficient purchasing files and supplier records to facilitate smooth operations, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for selecting suppliers, negotiating terms, and managing relationships, all in alignment with company goals.
  • Collaborate across departments to achieve sourcing objectives and support new product launches, playing an integral role in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, ensuring adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards, while conducting regular performance reviews and securing favorable terms.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to resolve issues, such as defective materials, fostering strong relationships and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Coordinate the procurement process by requesting quotes and arranging transportation for incoming shipments and equipment purchases.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers for automotive components, materials, and services, building strong supplier relationships and ensuring alignment with quality, engineering, technical and cost standards.
  • Ensure contract compliance, identifying and recommending cost-saving strategies while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Analyze procurement costs and identify opportunities to enhance supply chain efficiency, implementing data-driven improvements.
  • Work closely with other departments to optimize inventory levels and minimize lead times, ensuring alignment with production schedules.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and control teams to ensure compliance with standards and address any quality issues promptly.
  • Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement processes.
  • Stay informed about market trends and industry changes, making informed procurement decisions and contributing insights to the team.
  • Coordinate and support industry- standard compliance activities including reviews, audits, and monitoring to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Investigate and respond to procurement and contracting compliance risk issues.
  • Contribute to process development and improvements to support the organizations objectives while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

What You Bring to Ampco:
  • 5-7 years of procurement experience, with a strong track record in sourcing and supplier management.
  • Deep understanding of compliance standards, which is a significant asset in ensuring smooth operations.
  • Professional designation in Supply Chain Management (SCMP) or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to delivering effective solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, managing tight deadlines and priorities and ability to multitask triaging.
  • Exemplary work ethic, self-motivated, and driven to achieve results.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within teams and across departments.
  • Proven understanding of process flow autonomy and your roles impact on the business and collaborating departments.
  • Data analysis and forecasting experience is an asset.
  • Experience in offshore logistics, domestic logistics, and exposure to Incoterm and HS Codes are an asset.
  • Proven experience in estimations and providing quotes.
  • Strong ability to draft proposals or request for quotes and creative strategic sourcing skills.
  • Experience in Project coordination and or management is an asset but not required.
  • Proven understanding of take offs, analyzing drawings and technical specs.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, thriving in environments with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, ensuring clarity and precision in all interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, enabling you to manage tasks efficiently.
