Following the guidance of the Principal Compositing Artist and FX Supervisor, on a CG animated show, the Senior Compositing Artist composes scenes and sequences to meet art and story direction. The Senior Compositing Artist utilizes artistic and technical skills to create seamless integration of CG elements and is responsible for compositing multiple types of shots from moderately difficult to highly complex.
In this role you will:
- Responsible for integrating all layers including animation, the environment, lighting and effects in order to create the final shot.
- Ability to work with the lighting and rendering pipeline and capable of troubleshooting common rendering and lighting technical issues.
- Collaborates with Effects Artists to test efficacy of the special effects, modifying lighting as necessary.
- Provides feedback and support as necessary.
- Provides mentoring as necessary.
- Interprets and implements notes and feedback from the Supervisor or Lead in a timely and qualitatively acceptable way.
Need to have:
- High level proficiency in shot composition, color, lighting and compositing. Able to use plug-ins to expedite the process and also serve the needs of the shot.
- Detail oriented, must maintain overall shot and sequence aesthetic consistency and ensure that the output is artifact free.
- FX Compositing experience
- In-depth knowledge of Nuke is required. Experience with Shake, Digital Fusion, Flint, Flame, Inferno and/or After Effects is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of Maya and various rendering software.
Software you will use:
- Nuke
- Maya
Nice to have:
- Degree and/or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5+ years of experience working in a professional environment within their discipline.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of compositing. Knowledge of principles of photography (such as knowledge of cameras, fstop and shutter speed) and lighting considered
