Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managers across a wide range of areas including employee relations, leave management, performance, and policy interpretation.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, resolving issues with professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and discretion.
  • Support performance management processes, including probationary reviews, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary documentation.
  • Interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation to ensure fair and consistent practices.
  • Coordinate workplace investigations and support the resolution of employee concerns in collaboration with leadership.
  • Manage leave and disability programs, including medical, maternity/parental, and unpaid leaves, ensuring documentation and compliance.
  • Support HR programs and initiatives related to wellness, engagement, and employee experience.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity in the HRIS.
  • Contribute to policy development and review, ensuring alignment with organizational values, legislative requirements, and cultural context.
  • Collaborate with the HR team on cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 35 years of HR experience, with a strong focus on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CPHR designation (or working towards) is an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of British Columbia employment legislation and best practices in employee relations.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and support employees across diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing leaves, accommodations, and workplace investigations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working in a high-paced, dynamic, and culturally diverse environment is highly valued.
  • Awareness and respect for Indigenous history, culture, and trauma-informed approaches is an asset.
