About the Role Securiguard is currently hiring Campus Security Guard for a post-secondary site in Vernon, BC. In this role, you'll be more than just a visible presence. You will be a trusted guardian of safety and a key contributor to a welcoming, inclusive campus environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are approachable, dependable, and passionate about supporting students, faculty, and staff. As part of a collaborative campus team, you'll conduct patrols, respond to incidents, and build positive relationships, playing a vital role in fostering community safety and student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct proactive safety and security patrols of university buildings, grounds, and surrounding areas, including wooded spaces and parking lots when safe to do so.
- Serve as a positive and approachable presence to students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Monitor access control and maintain a visible presence on site and use SONIM phones and CCTV systems as part of daily duties.
- Respond to incidents and service requests with professionalism and care.
- Enforce campus policies in a respectful and inclusive manner, supporting the institution's values.
- Assist with emergencies including evacuations, lockdowns, or shelter-in-place situations as directed.
- Communicate with law enforcement or emergency responders when needed.
- Participate in drills, safety checks, and emergency management duties.
- Write accurate reports and maintain daily shift logs using approved tools.
Requirements:
- Valid BC Security License
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Minimum 2 years of security or customer-facing experience, preferably in an educational or public service setting
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Physically fit and capable of walking, climbing stairs, and being on-foot for extended periods
- Must have or be willing to obtain Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA2)
- Crisis Intervention, ICS Level 1, and WHMIS considered assets
