Overview and Purpose of the Role:
Reporting directly to Director of Professional Practice, Education & Academic Partnerships, this role focuses on the professional development of emerging leaders and the advancement of interprofessional education. The incumbent will work collaboratively with leadership and interprofessional clinical teams to identify staff learning needs and ensure the delivery of relevant clinical and educational programs for Health Disciplines staff within the Schroeder Ambulatory Centre (SAC).
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Support and facilitate corporate and program-specific meetings and quality initiatives (e.g., Collaborative Practice Council, Professional Practice Leader meetings)
Partner with unit leadership to develop learning plans and support collaborative performance reviews
Oversee the professional development of clinical staff through education, mentorship and training
Identify knowledge or practice gaps and develop targeted competency-based education and training
Mentor current and potential preceptors, supporting a culture of continuous learning
Design, implement and evaluate professional development programs, including skills-based and e-Learning content
Validate new hire competencies using standardized checklists and onboarding tools
Coordinate and support onboarding processes, including student placements and orientation
Present during Interprofessional Orientation (IPO) and support new staff orientation with interdisciplinary teams
Liaise with academic institutions to foster partnerships and enhance student learning experiences
Verify job-specific certifications, licensure and renewals in collaboration with leadership
Address safety concerns and collaborate on quality and risk management initiatives
Support planning, training and implementation related to equipment and medical devices
Cultivate external relationships to promote awareness of hospital allied health services
Maintain a safe, healthy work environment in accordance with legislation and organizational policies
Participate in all mandatory training and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards
Corporate Responsibilities:
- Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, company Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines
Skills & Qualifications:
Must be a Regulated Health Professional, such as an Anesthesia Assistant, Physiotherapist, Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), or Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT)
Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline from an accredited university is required
Master's degree in a health-related field from an accredited university is preferred (completed or in progress)
Minimum of 5–7 years of clinical experience in clinical, perioperative or procedural settings
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in teaching or leadership roles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and external stakeholders
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions on moderately complex issues that impact team or project outcomes
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on moderately complex projects
High level of discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential or sensitive information
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective solutions
Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to delegate tasks, motivate team members, and contribute to a positive team culture
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check/vulnerable sector check
- Provide proof of Immunization and TB records
