The Facilities Support Worker contributes as a member of the Buildings and Grounds department to ensure the smooth operation of daily school activities plus after hours events. In addition, this position will support traffic management and flagging, ensuring the safety and compliance of faculty, staff, parents and students as they access school property. The role will commence as soon as possible, and will continue until July 31, 2026.
Position Overview:
*These may include, but are not limited to
- Conducting routine, cyclical maintenance and minor repairs;
- Supporting facilities projects typically scheduled during school holidays;
- Assisting with school function set-up;
- School parking lot duties;
- Traffic management;
- Transporting inventory and materials;
- Picking up and delivery of supplies using school vehicles;
- Providing quality and timely service in responding to all requests whether verbal, written, phone calls and software work orders for maintaining buildings and grounds;
- Escalating all unusual events, circumstances, or other safety or quality control issues to the Manager of Facilities and Events;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma, trades and technical formal training preferred;
- Minimum one year experience using a variety of standard tools for building repairs and maintenance required;
- Knowledge of repair techniques preferred;
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with established safety standards;
- Ability to represent the school in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Ability to maintain and enhance the schools image when interacting with staff, students, parents, and vendors;
- Demonstrating the ability to be self directed and a positive team member, productive and motivated to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner with quality workmanship and adjust to changing priorities;
- Willing to be on call on a rotational basis to respond to the needs of school and / or for emergencies;
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs;
- Proficiency with MS Office and Google-suite gmail, calendar, documents, etc.;
- Ability to learn new computer systems as operationally required;
- WHMIS (Southpointe will provide training);
- Ability to obtain Criminal Record Check clearance;
- English language comprehension level for effective verbal and written communication;
- Valid Class 5 drivers license with clean driver's abstract .
Salary:
- $52,000 - $57,000 depending on qualifications and experience
- Three weeks vacation, prorated.
