Position Summary
Fortis Life Sciences is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate – Level II to take on an expanded role supporting the logistics and inventory operations of our manufacturing facility. Based fully onsite at our Toronto, ON (IPOC) location, this dynamic, cross-functional position also provides support to the Purchasing function, with occasional backup for Customer Service and Office Administration.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Operations:
- Oversee daily logistics activities including shipping, receiving, warehousing, and material handling.
- Receive incoming materials and verify against purchase orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare outbound shipments and all associated documentation (e.g., BOLs, packing slips, shipping labels).
- Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment based on sales orders.
- Maintain a clean, well-organized, and efficient warehouse layout.
- Monitor and replenish inventory of shipping supplies.
- Perform regular inventory counts and assist with reconciliations.
- Support non-conforming goods and returns processing.
- Maintain accurate shipping/receiving logs and inventory records using ERP systems.
- Report any safety incidents, inventory issues, or shipment delays.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including Quality, Planning, Customer Service, and Purchasing.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying workflow bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
- Provide training and direction to colleagues as required.
- Participate in general facility support as needed.
Purchasing Support:
- Assist the Purchasing team by tracking inbound orders, resolving vendor discrepancies, and coordinating delivery schedules.
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm order details and delivery status.
- Support material sourcing efforts and update ERP records as needed.
- Share insights with the Purchasing team to support vendor and supply chain improvements.
Customer Service Backup:
- Serve as a backup to Customer Service for responding to customer inquiries via phone, email, and other platforms.
- Assist in coordinating and confirming order fulfillment and shipping timelines for clients.
General Office Administration Support:
- Provide occasional assistance with ordering and managing office supplies.
- Support administrative projects and cross-functional coordination as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business is an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in shipping & receiving or warehouse/logistics roles.
- Exposure to or familiarity with purchasing, customer service, or administrative support in a manufacturing or distribution setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience using ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft D365) is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with a team-oriented, solutions-driven mindset.
- Able to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience with international shipping & receiving is a strong asset.
Work Environment
- On-site role based in Toronto, ON.
- Combination of warehouse and office work; requires physical activity including lifting (up to 30 lbs).
- Standard business hours: Monday to Friday, with some flexibility based on operational needs.
