Our Substations group is currently looking to add a Site Supervisor (Substation Construction) to our growing team, based in Alberta (Calgary / Edmonton) or Ontario (Toronto / Thunder Bay).
Reporting to the Construction Manager (Substations), the Site Supervisor manages and oversees all daily on-site construction activities. In this role the Site Supervisor is expected to lead on-site crew while ensuring project construction is executed effectively and within budget. The Site Supervisor is also responsible for submitting timesheets for his/her crew in a timely manner and will act as the main point of contact for the Project Manager, the subcontractors and Client in conjunction with the PM.
Please Note: This is a Field based position and must be able to accommodate multiple shift requirements based on Project Schedules
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage on-site construction activities and large work groups (25-50 people at any one time)
- Ensure Projects are executed in compliance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, budget, safety and quality requirements and standards
- Ensure all Daily Reporting and Daily Work Plans are completed and submitted
- Ensure crew timesheets are completed and submitted daily
- Be the liaison between the company and the client's site Representative
- Leading by example, support implementation of company's safety Policies and Procedures
- Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and maintain the project's construction timelines as well as project execution plans, kick-off meetings, Contract reviews and scope reviews, while working with Valard's Contracts team to ensure a well-rounded project program
- Work with the Project Manager managing the Subcontractors on site, developing subcontract agreements
- Maintain Valard's Substation quality management program, while working directly with the on-site Quality Representative, ensuring the delivery of a quality product as per the design and Contract requirements
- Mentor, train and motivate crews in embracing our culture of Safety
- Utilize Valard's Change Management System, while working with clients to review and obtain closure to all RFIs and CO's
- Support internal and external audit and inspection activities
- Equipment review and scheduling as required
Requirements
- Journeyman designation in a related trade (Power System Electrician / Construction Electrician)
- 5 years of supervisory experience in the construction industry
- Proven Experience in medium to high-voltage substation construction considered an asset
- A combination of education and experience may also be considered
- Demonstrated ability to Manage Large sized work groups safely and efficiently
- Experience with various construction disciplines, safety regulations, project scheduling, cost and quality control
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
