POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Vice President of Planning, the VDC/BIM Manager will play a critical role in implementing and supporting Virtual Design and Construction and Building Information Modelling processes throughout both the Bid and Project Execution Phases. This position enhances project coordination, communication, risk mitigation, and overall efficiency through the effective application of digital modelling, visualization tools, and collaboration technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a team that plans, coordinates, and implements VDC processes utilizing appropriate technology platforms through project life cycle.
  • Develop, monitor, coordinate, and report on the Pre- Post contract BIM Execution Plan and VDC implementation strategy.
  • Oversee a portfolio of projects and deployment of VDC personnel.
  • Understand the owner BIM / Employers Information Requirements (EIR) and use a custom suite of software tools to prepare model-based deliverables.
  • Work with Operations Management team to develop BIM specific scope of work.
  • Have the freedom and creativity to develop project specific workflows that utilize BIM data for estimating, logistics, planning, scheduling (4D), coordination, field layout, and facilities Management.
  • Collaborate on the development and maintenance of knowledge exchange databases related to tools, workflows and Urban One standards.
  • Manage regional VDC resources and performance review evaluations.
  • Collaborate with IT to equip staff with required hardware and software tools for projects.
  • Assist and support the pre-construction teams use of BIM/VDC for Request for Proposals (RFP), project pursuits, estimating and 4D planning.
  • Uphold industry BIM standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology, or Construction Management
  • 8 plus years of professional experience with focus on BIM Management, Modeling, and related technology.
  • Experience in leadership roles at organization level.
  • Resource tracking and forecasting, both personnel and hardware.
  • Relevant experience in engineering and/or construction fields, including document production and M&E coordination. (experience in North America BIM standards an asset).
  • Advanced experience in Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Revizto, Reality Capture (Cupix & Openspace).
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Bluebeam.
  • Passionate about the construction industry and innovation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent organization, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • BIM-related training or certifications considered an asset (Building Transformations, BuildingSMART).
