Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.
Reporting to the Materials/Logistics Manager the successful candidate provides high quality service and support to the Materials Management Department through the sourcing materials, supporting the RFQ process and expediting materials to site. The Buyer will work locally on a 5/2-4-3 schedule.
The focus of this role will include:
- Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures.
- Day to Day processing of RFQs, sourcing requirements and Expediting orders will be the priority.
- Order management - following up on past due orders and expediting with various Suppliers for timely deliveries.
- Issuing change orders and investigate/resolve invoice discrepancies for timely payment.
- Assists with developing/improving and streamlining processes within the Procurement function.
- Daily communications with vendors and stakeholders regarding quotations and orders.
- Communicating with various departments regarding order requirements and status.
- Provide coverage in other Buying areas for Vacations.
- Sourcing, selecting and negotiating the best value purchasing package for quality, price, terms, delivery and service with suppliers.
- Find lower cost alternatives for various product categories through strategic sourcing and negotiations.
- Assist with building and analyzing purchasing reports.
- Understanding of the full Procure to Pay process.
- Assist warehouse technicians and other warehouse roles as required.
- Other duties as requested.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in Procurement for mining operations and / or mine suppliers is an asset.
- Previous experience in Expediting Process and knowledge of mining parts & services is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in the Supply Chain field is an asset.
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and decision making skills.
- Ability to effectively deal with high pressure environments and tight deadlines.
- Experience with ERP systems and proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel spreadsheets.
- Valid drivers license.
