Job Title: Senior Construction Estimator
Location: Head Office (Hamilton-based)

Travel Required: Occasional (to job sites)
Work Environment: 5 days In-Office, Monday to Friday – no remote or hybrid options
This Hamilton-based Commercial General Contracting business is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their team. This is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong people skills and technical estimating expertise who is ready to take the lead on a variety of commercial construction projects.
As the Senior Estimator, you'll be a key contributor to the success of institutional and commercial builds, including schools, churches, pump stations, and renovations, excluding residential and civil construction.
You'll lead and mentor the estimating team, play a central role in developing winning bid strategies, and help foster relationships with trades, suppliers, and industry partners.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support the estimating team in developing detailed and competitive bids
Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing
Oversee budgeting and cost estimates for 10–12 active projects on a rolling basis
Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
Lead bid strategy meetings and coordinate bid submissions
Collaborate with project managers and clients during the preconstruction phase
Attend local construction association events and build relationships with suppliers and trades
Maintain historical pricing databases and continually seek cost-saving or value-engineering opportunities
7+ years of experience in commercial & institutional estimating within the construction industry
Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
Strong knowledge of Ontario construction markets, codes, and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with Bid2Win is a strong asset
Familiarity with CMiC construction software is an asset (used by the project management team)
Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
Compensation: $100,000–$125,000+, depending on experience
Work Schedule: 8 hours per day, In-Office, Monday to Friday
Geographic Requirement: Must live within a 1-hour commute of the Hamilton office
Supervisory Role: No direct reports, but will mentor junior estimators
