We are conducting electric meter upgrades in the St. Albert, Red Deer, Calgary and Lethbridge, AB areas for Fortis Alberta, and are hiring Full Time Electric Meter Installers! Applicants need to be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid driver's license and have a clean criminal and driving history. NO EXPERIENCE is required with paid training! Project will start in October, 2025. Some positions will be expected to run for about 3-4 years, while some will be temporary running from October to the end of December, 2025.
All of our field staff are provided with:
- Safety gear including company boot (allowance), vests, glasses, etc.
- Paid training at $31.35/hour, up to a total of $250.80 for a full day
- Will be transitioned to piece rate once training is successfully completed, unlocking your earning potential!
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for installing single phase electric meters by replacing an existing meter (change-out). The new meter and meter module are installed to automate the process of reading a meter for accurate consumption and billing.
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings: background check and driving record
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (Potential to work Saturdays as well)
- Must be able to walk up to 5-10 km per day
- Must be able to complete a Readme test at 100%
Working Conditions and Hours:
- Outdoor work environment
- Little supervision to give you freedom to work independently and manage your own day
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Successfully complete the company's training program and pass applicable written and field tests
- Learn and apply safety measure relating to motor vehicle operation and other field related matters
