Parkgate Society is proud to have several Child Care programs chosen to be $10 a day Child Care Prototypes by the Province of BC. This includes all programs at our Parkgate location in Child Care and School Age Care and our School Age Care program at our Seymour location.
We strive to exceed licensing regulations by having a better than required child / staff ratio and we stay current with the newest standards and best practices of early childhood development learning. Our Child Care Centres are equipped with high quality play equipment, including natural play and art materials. Parkgate Society Child Care philosophy is play-based, family centered and focuses on the social-emotional learning and well-being of the child.
Contract Details:
- This is a permanent part-time position.
- The wage range is $22.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on certification and experience; note this range is excluding the $6.00 per hour BC Wage Enhancement which will be paid to those in our employ who hold the appropriate certification(s).
- The days and hours would be - Monday to Friday, 5 days per week - from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm, 22.5 hours per week (more hours may be available as needed operationally).

- We share space at Parkgate Community Centre, which boasts excellent programs and fitness facilities through the North Vancouver Rereation & Culture Commission.
Responsibilities:A key focus of this role includes the responsibilities associated with the daily closing duties for the Infant / Toddler Program, that include but are not limited to:
- At the beginning of the shift, review the daily logbook and confidential documentation book; familiarize oneself with the specifics of what has occurred for the day; inquire with staff about the needs for the end of day.
- Responsible to communicate empathetically with parents at pick up time about the occurrences of the day pertaining to their child.
- Responsible for the check-out of each child daily, using an app, monitoring correct attendance and ratio.
- Document information that is shared from parents at pick up time in the daily logbook at the end of the day.
- Participate fully and consistently as a team member in caring for the children and in the overall operations of the centre and programs.
- Responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well-being of the children at all times; this includes playground and outside safety, and in all spaces.
- Recognize and respond to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate positive guidance and teaching methods.
- Follow the planning, preparing and implementation of stimulating, age-appropriate activities that the program team creates.
- Participate in team discussions to encourage children's creativity, learning and to promote each child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development aligned with the current BC Early Learning Framework and the Code of Ethics.
- Ensure the Child Care programs are always operating in compliance with all Child Care licensing regulations.
- As needed, perform other duties as assigned by the Child Care Supervisors or Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Early Childhood Educator Certificate or Infant / Toddler Certificate (preferred).
- A current Child Care First Aid certificate.
- A clear Criminal Records Check for Vulnerable Persons.
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in a licensed group child care setting in BC.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- It would be a bonus if you have a Special Needs Certification and a Food Safe Certificate.
