Director of Information Technology
Our client is a growing and forward-thinking organization with five business entities operating across North America. With a focus on delivering innovative product solutions and consulting services, they are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Information Technology to unify and modernize internal technology operations across the group.
Why This Role?
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a digital transformation initiative across a multi-entity environment. You'll have the autonomy to design scalable systems, build and lead a strong IT team, and influence technology decisions at the executive level.
Some of what you will do in this role includes:
  • Evaluate and standardize IT infrastructure, systems, and cybersecurity across all entities.
  • Develop and implement a unified IT strategy aligned with business objectives and future growth.
  • Lead and grow a small internal IT team, building a high-performance and service-oriented culture.
  • Oversee day-to-day internal IT operations including cloud systems (primarily AWS), networking, security, hardware, software, and user support.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service-level agreements.
  • Support integration and performance of proprietary technologies.
  • Collaborate with executive and operational leadership to deliver scalable and secure technical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, industry standards, and security policies.
  • Occasional travel to regional offices.
Your background includes:
  • 8+ years of experience in IT leadership, preferably across multi-entity, data- or compute-heavy environments.
  • Proven track record with cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS), IT operations, network administration, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience with SOC II compliance or similar frameworks.
  • Exposure to geospatial data environments is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a hands-on and strategic mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., AWS, CISSP, PMP) are a plus.
Location:
Preferred base is Calgary, AB, but the role can be based anywhere Canada for the right candidate.
