Position Summary:

Wasauksing First Nations Little Eagle Child Care Centre is now accepting applications to fill Early Childhood Educator Assistant positions. The incumbent of this position is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating early learning environment in a team and community oriented licensed child care.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To follow and adhere to the policies and procedures of WFN;
  • To adhere to child care licensing standards as established and enforced by the Day Nursery Act;
  • To work effectively in a teamwork environment providing support of all fellow staff at the ECC in an effort to embrace the philosophy of the centre
  • Interaction with and supervision of child participants while adhering to all policies and procedures set by WFN;
  • Equipment maintenance and sterilization of equipment as assigned;
  • Written reports (daily logs, accidents, injuries or illness) to be completed on a daily basis;
  • Releasing children to authorized persons (adhering to this critical policy);
  • With direction from ECE the assistants shall prepare for all activities and assist with the delivery of social, creative, physical and out-trips planned by the full-time staff;
  • Assist with providing a positive, healthy routine oriented environment for child participants;
  • Honour and respect the role that the parent and/or caregiver provide in the life if the child(ren) and develop a rapport based on a philosophy of partnership
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor;

Education & Experience:

  • Grade 12 graduate
  • Enrolled in a Registered Early Childhood Educator course or equivalent is considered an asset
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
  • Skill in obtaining, clarifying and exchanging information.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate activities.
  • Ability to serve as a role model and treat students, families and community with respect.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to help organize and deliver indoor and outdoor activities and trips.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Anishnaabe customs and traditions is considered and asset
  • Willing to work flexible hours as required, including evenings and weekends
  • This position requires the individual to work with various families, youth and children. To protect children, youth and vulnerable persons, Wasauksing First Nation requires the individual to provide a vulnerable sector. Or criminal record check
