Job Description

The House of Commons' Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff the IT Ambassador position.
The IT Ambassador provides personalized, onsite technical support to Members of Parliament, their staff, House Officers, and senior House Administration. You will play a key role in supporting Virtual Parliament and hybrid meetings, with responsibilities that include liaising with procedural and technical staff of the House of Commons, onboarding committee witnesses, and coaching all participants on how to properly use House-provided equipment and platforms.
In this role, you'll monitor live hybrid meetings, troubleshoot technical and connectivity issues in real time, and respond quickly to the needs of Members and other participants. You'll work closely with other IT teams to ensure issues are resolved promptly and will provide feedback to improve services and user experience. As an IT Ambassador, you are a forward-thinking team player who embraces challenges and collaborates to make a meaningful difference.

Digital Services and Real Property has a requirement of a 24/7 support model and work activities related to this role may require working irregular hours, overtime and providing on-call support to meet our operational requirements. As part of this position, you must be willing to work onsite up to five (5) days a week.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education from a recognized institution in a related field such as Computer Science or Information Technology OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in handling sensitive situations and escalations with appropriate business acumen;
  • Experience in understanding client needs and requirements and proposing suitable solutions;
  • Experience providing IT support in a corporate networking environment;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 356 suite as well as other virtual conferencing and collaboration platforms;
  • Experience logging, tracking and monitoring service calls and face-to-face requests from various clients and stakeholders;
  • Thorough understanding of parliamentary procedures;
  • Demonstrated interest in learning, working and supporting virtual parliament.
