Position Summary:

If so you you may be a great fit to join our team as a Geophysical Technician at Quantec Geoscience Ltd., you will be an integral part of our Field Operations Department.

Reporting directly to the Field Manager. This role will require your commitment to upholding Quantec's and our clients requirements, including; procedures, training, tests, assessments and assignments. This detailed job description outlines your duties, responsibilities, and performance evaluation criteria and will be attached to your employment agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support Geophysical Projects:

  • Utilize compasses, GPS, and other navigation tools effectively.
  • Be comfortable working in remote wilderness environments. Backpacking equipment through various terrains (mountains, deserts, dense forests and everything in between).
  • Offroad experience is an asset: 4x4 pickups, UTVs, quads and snowmobiles are used regularly to support our projects.
  • Support geophysical surveys using specialized equipment and techniques.
  • Follow established protocols to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Adhere to quality control standards and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and perform field repairs on equipment, as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure data accuracy.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements and protocols established by Quantec.
  • Follow client-specific policies, procedures, and rules regarding technical and health and safety training.
  • Participate in drug and alcohol tests as required by Quantec and/or clients.
  • Cooperate with the use of breathalyzers as part of Quantec's and/or clients' safety protocols.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education and Background:

  • Field/outdoor experience is a requirement.
  • Science background is an asset but not required.
  • Mining, geophysics, geology, or survey backgrounds are beneficial.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using compasses, GPS, and other relevant field equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and field repair capabilities is advantageous.

Personal Attributes:

  • Responsible and able to work unsupervised.
  • Resourceful in solving problems and overcoming challenges.
  • Physically fit to carry a minimum of 40 lb packs of field gear while hiking in harsh weather and/or terrain conditions.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to make informed field decisions.
  • Strong teamwork and cooperation skills for extended durations in the field.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License with a clean abstract is essential.
  • Authorization to work in USA.
  • Possession of a Passport is highly desirable to support international projects.

Employment Details:

  • Job Type: Permanent Full Time during the project duration, typical rotations range between 4-6 weeks or greater.
  • Base Salary Range: $185 -$205 per day.
  • Performance Bonus up to 10% for meeting project targets.
  • Meal allowance ~$50/day.
  • Field Techs will get a field gear allowance once they hit time in field milestones, this enables our technicians to maintain and upgrade equipment as they see fit.
  • Additional benefits: basic equipment allowance (PPE), flexible schedule, paid time off.
  • Language Requirement: English
  • Project Schedule: 8 to 10 -hour shifts, 7 days per week. 1 fatigue day every 2 weeks.
  • Supplemental Pay Types: 10% of performance-based bonus
  • Ability to commute/relocate while working on a specific project.

Reporting Structure:

  • Field Reporting: You will report directly to the Field Manager while in the field.
  • Organizational Reporting: Your position reports within the Operations Department and aligns with the Director of Operations.

Compliance Requirements:

  • Policies, Procedures, and Rules: You must comply with all policies, procedures, and rules established by Quantec Geoscience.
  • Client-Specific Requirements: You are expected to adhere to specific policies, procedures, and rules requested by clients, including technical and health and safety training, drug and alcohol tests, and the use of breathalyzers.
