Job Title:
Interim Finance Director
Duration:
4-month contract (August-December 2025)
7.5 hours/day
Principal tasks and responsibilities include:
  • Oversee the monthly and year-end close processes for Canadian and U.S. entities
  • Lead financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and consolidation
  • Act as the main point of contact for external auditors (year-end audit support)
  • Manage group reporting, P&L oversight, and cash flow planning
  • Coordinate tax compliance (Canada and U.S.) and support transfer pricing processes
  • Oversee payment execution and accounts payable
  • Maintain banking relationships and treasury oversight
  • Work with teams in Canada, the U.S., and Europe to manage group-level financial deliverables
  • Provide costing and inventory support (not overly complex - distribution-focused)
  • Perform journal entries and hands-on support where needed (this is not a pure oversight role)
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to align financials with sales and distribution operations
Our client:
A global sales and distribution organization in the life sciences sector, with operations in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. They are entering year-end and inventory close season and are transitioning some internal roles - this consultant will play a key role in ensuring smooth financial execution during this critical period.
Qualifications and pre-requisites:
  • CPA designation or equivalent preferred
  • Experience supporting both Canadian and U.S. entities (including tax and regulatory requirements)
  • Strong audit background or prior experience leading financial year-end processes
  • Distribution industry experience is required
  • Hands-on financial reporting, month end, year end and year end inventory experience is required
  • Comfortable liaising with external auditors, internal stakeholders, and international counterparts
  • Strong systems experience (SAP, Excel, etc.) and comfort with booking entries when needed
  • Collaborative attitude, patient and open as there will be minimal training and many moving pieces
  • Must be committed to the full term - this is a critical business period
Additional information or perks:
  • Pay: $120-$145/hour (based on a 7.5-hour day)
  • Chosen candidate should be available to start within the next 2 weeks
  • Additional hours may be required during peak periods (especially around year-end)
  • Candidate will be required to be onsite in Windsor 3-6 times per month based on business needs
  • Hotel accommodations will be covered if overnight stays are required
