THE ROLE

Under the supervision of the Director of People & Culture, the position provides human resources support and guidance, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employment relations, talent development, compensation and benefits, training and development, People & Culture (HR) policies, and employee engagement. The position also provides consultation and guidance to the Management team for employment-related matters to ensure the consistent application and interpretation of P&C policies and programs across the Company and alignment with corporate values and human resources philosophy.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Acts as the first point of contact for managers and employees for advice on employee issues and day-to-day conversations.

· Build and develop relationships with managers and employees as well as develop trust and credibility with the Leadership team.

· Respond to employee questions regarding human resources-related issues and promptly address all inquiries/concerns.

· Conduct investigations related to escalated grievances, submit reports to management with recommendations and implement the final outcome.

· Assists the Director of People & Culture in implementing new projects, drafting policies, and ensuring compliance with legislative and industry norms.

· Assists the Director of People & Culture with introducing and revamping the HR processes on Dayforce and effective change management.

· Assisting the Talent Acquisition Specialist with all duties related to full-cycle recruitment as required (i.e., assist hiring managers in drafting job descriptions, post job ads, release assessments, conduct candidate screening and interviewing, perform reference checks, release offer letters, etc.).

· Responsible for developing and maintaining job descriptions.

· Assist managers and new hires in onboarding and facilitate orientation programs in collaboration with hiring managers, as required.

· Draft policies and procedures in collaboration with the Management team and provide directions on such policies, advising on procedures outside of Company policies.

· Prepares and proofreads employment letters, recommend termination packages, and general employee communications.

· Manages the HRIS (Dayforce), ensuring all pertinent employee information is up-to-date.

· Provides advice and assists with performance management (i.e., performance evaluations, disciplinary issues, coaching and mentoring strategies, performance improvement plans, etc.).

· Assists sustaining a performance-driven culture by implementing IDP for HIPO/HIPER.

· Collaborate with the People & Culture Specialist to administer and manage the company's benefits programs (health, dental, life insurance, etc.) for both Canadian and US-based employees.

· Serve as a point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing clear communication and support to ensure understanding of available programs and policies.

· Support the benefits review process, including gathering data, evaluating plan performance, and contributing to the development of a plan alternatives summary to inform potential changes.

· Liaise with benefits providers and brokers as needed to resolve issues, gather plan information, and support decision-making.

· Advises Payroll department on payroll-related changes to employee information.

· Responsible for designing and implementing innovative and engaging training modules to enhance employees' skills and competencies.

· Conducts employee engagement surveys and collaborates with the Management team to develop and implement an action plan.

· Assists with data analytics and reporting to provide the Management team with key insights and data-driven analysis (i.e., compensation, talent movement, etc.).

· Coordinates with third-party vendors to ensure services are provided as per the contract and maintain relationships to gather market insights.

· Responsible for continuously enhancing HR processes and introducing new HR programs to attract and retain talent.

· Conduct exit interviews, and terminations, and report any trends to management along with recommendations.

· Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with Company and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.

· Research and keep abreast of legislative and industry changes.

· Performs any other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

· University Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.

· A minimum of 3-6 years of related experience in a similar role.

· Advanced knowledge of Ontario employment legislation.

· Working knowledge across several HR disciplines: employee relations, learning and development, recruitment & selection, orientation and onboarding, and benefits administration.

· Advanced computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc.).

Desirable:

· Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) is considered an asset.

· Working knowledge of employment legislation across Canada is considered an asset.

· Experience with Dayforce, and Workable is considered an asset.
