At Sinai Health, we care, create possibilities and offer hope. We are looking for an experienced Communicative Disorders Assistant to support our Augmentative & Alternate Communication (AAC) Clinic.

Job Outline:

This position is located in the AAC Clinic and is responsible for providing advanced level support to Speech- Language Pathologists in the provision of inpatient and outpatient speech, language and swallowing services.

Work involves implementing and facilitating treatment plans with respect to communication and swallowing as established by the Speech Language Pathologist, hearing aid maintenance, preparing treatment materials, writing progress notes and co-facilitation of unit based and hospital wide groups.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Post Graduate Diploma from a college (e.g., Communicative Disorders Assistant Program diploma/certificate from Georgian/Durham College) or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal command of English.
  • Working knowledge of Boardmaker.
  • Working knowledge of computers and programs such as Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to perform Hearing Aid Rounds (e.g., working knowledge of audiology referral process, hearing aid cleaning and elementary repair)
  • Membership in the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada is preferred
  • Demonstrated satisfactory job performance and attendance history required
