We are looking for INSTRUMENT MECHANIC for our Scarborough(333 Progress ) location. Shift: Starting on 10hrs day shift going to 12hrs continental shifts. Wage:$45.78 +$3 retention bonus .
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the day-to-day safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of the paper machine and it's auxiliary systems.
· Skills:
· Good workshop practices and working knowledge of industrial electrical and electronic technology
· Able to build control panels from drawings or description
· Able to understand and troubleshoot relay logic
· Good working knowledge of PLC/DCS systems, (Allen Bradley/Valmet DNA preferred): programming, troubleshooting logic or communications set up issues
· Basic understanding of network and communication protocols used in industrial control systems.
· Capable of reading wiring schematics, logic drawings (ladder and function block), hydraulic/pneumatic drawings, and blueprints
· Install, repair and adjust hydraulic/pneumatic controls
· Familiarity with standard measurement techniques and calibration procedures on level, temperature, flow, pressure, analytical and consistency instrumentation
· Familiarity with control valve standard set-up and calibration procedures and test for functionality
· Able to handle competing priorities and adapt to situations
· Take a proactive approach to problem solving
· Ability to work well in a group environment
· Demonstrate good mathematical (mathematical test required) and communication skills (oral & written)
· Able to perform the bona fide occupational requirements, as outlined in the Physical Demands Analysis
- Installation
- Set up and install sensors, transmitters, and control devices on industrial equipment.
- Interpret technical drawings and loop diagrams.
- Calibration
- Adjust instruments to ensure accurate readings and performance.
- Use calibration tools and software to test sensors and controllers.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Inspect instruments regularly to prevent failures.
- Diagnose and fix malfunctions in instrumentation systems.
- Repair and Replacement
- Replace faulty sensors, circuit boards, or wiring.
- Repair pneumatic, electronic, or digital control systems.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Keep accurate maintenance records.
- Ensure systems meet safety and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
· Able to function within a paper mill setting
· Minimum of five years industrial experience in the electrical and instrumentation fields
· Able to work independently using safe work practices and with limited supervision
· Must be willing and able to work both 12-hour shifts and 10-hour day shifts
· Call-in, statutory holiday and weekend coverage will also be required
