Salary: $25 per hour

We are seeking a compassionate and highly organized Legal Intake Support to join our team on a contract basis. This position is ideal for individuals with prior experience in legal, medical, social work or support work and who are comfortable speaking with individuals about deeply sensitive topics.

You will serve as the first point of contact for potential clients reaching out to our firm for support with various legal matters including sexual assault, neglect, or medical negligence. Your role will require a high level of empathy, discretion, and professionalism, as well as the ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial intake calls with prospective clients, gathering detailed information regarding their circumstances.
  • Approach all conversations with empathy and sensitivity, creating a safe and respectful space for clients to share their stories.
  • Assess critical details of each inquiry to determine appropriate triage or next steps.
  • Document information accurately and thoroughly in our legal case management software.
  • Collaborate with legal staff to review and escalate potential cases for evaluation.
  • Maintain regular communication with leads and clients, including follow-ups and appointment coordination.
  • Provide general information about the intake process.
  • Ensure prompt attention to time-sensitive leads.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professional standards in all interactions.

Required Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Prior experience in a legal, medical, social work or support work setting.
  • Excellent phone communication skills and a calm, reassuring demeanor.
  • Comfort discussing sensitive, potentially distressing topics with professionalism and empathy.
  • Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technologically proficient, including the ability to quickly learn and navigate legal file management systems and cloud-based tools.
  • Self-starter with strong time-management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in medical/legal intake or personal injury/civil litigation law.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures in the BC legal system.

Schedule:

  • Flexible part-time contract (2040 hours/week)
