ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Senior Pastry Chef, the Pastry Chef is responsible for producing the highest quality pastry creations, working efficiently and mastering cleanliness in their environment. Must be available Wednesday to Saturday mornings.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, and breads in accordance with recipes and presentation standards.
    • Carefully measure and mix ingredients according to recipe specifications.
    • Decorate and garnish desserts with attention to detail and creativity.
    • Ensure the highest level of hygiene, cleanliness and food safety is adhered to in the handling of food items.
    • Consistently conduct yourself in a professional and positive manner.
    • Ensure all food products are stored in appropriate containers, labeled, and rotated, to minimize waste, maximize quality, and ensure freshness.
    • Aid in meeting and exceeding department objectives.
    • Respond in a positive, budget-conscious, and timely manner to all internal and external guest requests and complaints, while meeting standards to exceed the guest's expectations.
    • Accurately follow all reporting procedures for accidents and incidents in the workplace.
    • Adhere to all policies and guidelines, checklists, prep sheets, and par sheets, as assigned.
    • Motivate fellow staff and encourage high self-esteem and efficiency in the workplace.
    • Display a positive attitude and contribute to a healthy team culture.
    • Perform ad hoc duties as required to support the overall effectiveness of the kitchen team and ensure smooth operations.

WHAT YOU HAVE

    • Minimum one year of baking or cooking experience is preferred.
    • Post-secondary education or formal training in baking or pastry arts is considered an asset.
    • Experience working more than one station at a time is considered an asset.
    • Excellent multi-tasking skills.
    • Strong English communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with team members, partners, and leaders.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
    • WHMIS Certification is required but can be obtained once hired.
    • Food Safe Certification is required but can be obtained within 30 days of being hired.
    • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
