Position Summary
The Civil Engineering Technologist supports the design and coordination of land and site development projects within our industrial portfolio. Working closely with senior team members, this role assists in preparing designs, conducting site assessments, and helping ensure project approvals and construction progress smoothly.
This position is ideal for a recent graduate or someone early in their civil engineering career who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to large-scale development projects. It offers hands-on experience and the opportunity to develop technical skills in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in civil design tasks for land and site development projects
- Support the coordination of utilities, grading plans, and drainage systems
- Conduct site visits and feasibility assessments under supervision
- Contribute to the development and improvement of internal processes
- Support construction and project teams as needed
- Timely preparation of inspection and investigative reports
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met
- Liaise with contractors and affected stakeholders
- Assist with other technical tasks including drafting and design
What you bring to York
- A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 2+ years experience as a civil engineering technologist
- Familiarity with grading, stormwater, sanitary, and water systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with internal teams and municipal staff
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Eagerness to grow within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Basic understanding of project documentation and municipal approval processes
- Knowledge of Alberta/Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
