POSITION: Digital Marketing Assistant (Social Media)

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

REPORTS TO: Manager of Communications

POSITION TYPE: 6-month contract position (approx. 20 hours per week) with flexible hours. Working hours may fall on evenings and weekends as required to assist with event coverage.

RATE: $22.50/per hour

MANDATE:THEMUSEUM is seeking a creative and strategic Digital Marketing Assistant (Social Media) to develop and execute compelling content that enhances our digital presence and drives audience engagement. This role is responsible for creating high-quality, multi-format content and managing THEMUSEUMs social media channels, while ensuring our brand voice is consistent and reflective of our values of curiosity, innovation, and cultural relevance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Creation & Strategy

  • Implement social media content strategies that align with THEMUSEUMs brand and programming goals.
  • Create engaging written, visual, and video content that reflects the interests and curiosities of our diverse audiences.
  • Capture the spirit of THEMUSEUM events through live social coverage using photos, video, Stories, and Reels.
  • Attend off-site marketing events to represent THEMUSEUM and create on-the-ground content to boost brand awareness.

Social Media Management

  • Schedule and manage daily content across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, and Google My Business.
  • Monitor platforms and engage with followers, responding to direct messages, comments, and inquiries.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging best practices to ensure continued growth and relevance.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills with a portfolio that demonstrates versatility across platforms and content types.
  • Proficiency in social media tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of analytics platforms (e.g., Meta Insights, Google Analytics) and how to translate metrics into actionable insights.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
