Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Tourism, the Experience, Marketing & Development Manager will be responsible for assisting in the development of programs and initiatives to support the McMurray Mtis Cultural Center that will generate direct bookings and revenue.

The incumbent will lead the execution of strategic marketing initiatives to drive engagement and increase visitation, including digital campaigns, social media management, influence partnerships, and performance analytics. This role also supports tourism operators in achieving market readiness through coaching in product development, pricing, packaging, and digital visibility.

The incumbent will work closely with the Vice-President, Tourism Development, and key regional, provincial, and national partners to align marketing efforts, support funding proposals, and contribute to project planning and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, result-driven professional with a strong background in tourism, marketing and development.

The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of IMC, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.

This permanent full-time salaried position is located in Fort McMurray, AB and is based on forty (40) hours weekly. Given the managerial capacity, additional hours may be required. Regional travel will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the development and ongoing maintenance of the designated website.
  • Coordinate the implementation of an integrated booking engine to capture reservations and revenue.
  • Assist in sourcing and onboarding Indigenous and non-Indigenous tourism operators.
  • Assist in sourcing suppliers/content creators in the development of immersive VR and interactive programming attractions.
  • Collaborate with multimedia and tech partners to ensure cultural integrity and engaging storytelling in digital experiences.
  • Support operators in achieving market readiness, including product development, pricing, packaging, and digital presence.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to drive traffic to the website and booking platform.
  • Lead social media planning and execution, including content creation, campaign management, influence partnerships, and analytics.
  • Collaborate with regional, provincial, and national tourism partners.
  • Contribute to funding proposals, reporting, and presentations supporting tourism development projects.
  • Analyze performance metrics related to marketing, web traffic, and booking activity.
  • Provide general support to the VP, Tourism Development, across project planning and stakeholder engagement, and
  • Other relatable duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Tourism, Marketing, Communications, Business, or equivalent, along with two (2) years of experience in tourism marketing, destination development, or digital marketing roles, or,
  • A combination of post secondary education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of Mtis and Indigenous culture and commitment to working in a culturally safe inclusive manner is considered an asset.
  • Experience in website and/or e-commerce/booking platform development is preferred.
  • Proficient in digital marketing, including SEO, SEM, social media, and content marketing.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale projects, preferably in cultural, community or public spaces.
  • Strong background in project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to envision and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Proven analytical, planning, and organizing skills.
  • Results oriented with sound judgment and the ability to balance other business considerations.
  • High energy level, ability to multitask, establish priorities, work independently or in a team environment.
  • Must be decisive and work well under pressure particularly when faced with an unexpected occurrence or delay.
  • Must be proficient with all Microsoft office suite applications.
  • Must be proficient with tools, such as, Word Press, Google Analytics, and social media scheduling platforms, and,
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to listen effectively, respond appropriately, and maintain mutual comfort level while relating to a diverse workforce.

Qualified status with the Mtis Nation of Alberta or fluency in Dene Cree are preferred candidate traits.
