We are looking for a collaborative and people focused Human Resources Business Partner to execute a full range of Human Resources services including but limited to streamlining HR functions, enhancing workforce retention, predicting staffing needs, managing termination processes, and ensuring compliance regulations. This position is based out of our office located in Sherwood Park and works Monday to Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM.

Job Duties

  • Human Resources Responsibilities
    • Employee Relations and Engagement
      • Provide timely and adept issues management, dispute resolution, discipline process coaching, disciplinary letters and recommendation for termination to managers and HR Manager. Specific to employee/ supervisor level issues or concerns.
      • Advise managers and employees on the interpretation and application of HR policies, programs, and procedures (everything outside of Pay and Everyday benefits)
      • Ensure all HR Processes, procedures, and policies are compliant with applicable legislation
    • Cross trained in Payroll, and Benefits to provide training, coverage for absences, and improve processes
  • Performance Management
    • Assist in the development and administer performance management system to capture skill gaps and complete training needs assessment for all staff.
    • Work with HR Manager and Terminal Managers to develop training plans for identified staff members.
  • Job Classification and Compensation:
    • Ensure job descriptions are kept updated and are checked for accuracy with stakeholders on a regular (annual) basis.
    • Respond to manager requests for position classification reviews, when required
    • Ensure position classification reviews are conducted when required (ie. changes to existing or new positions).
    • Bring to manager any competency changes that will change pay band.
    • Rate changes – review with HRM.
  • Benefits Responsibilities
    • Address escalated inquiries from employees, third parties, and government bodies in relation to benefits programs.
    • Coordinate the roll out of any new plan initiatives.
    • Manage the disability management program inclusive of WCB, STD, LTD and records management. This includes WCB top ups and GRTW programs, ensuring fitness for returning to work is received from the doctor. Ensure employees on STD / LTD complete a return to work medical before returning for duties.
    • Coordinate and manage the sleep apnea pro gram.
    • Oversee third party vendors for the coordination of benefits
  • Other:
    • Meetings with vendors on program overview, updates, changes, and renewals of programs
    • Partnerships – managing and developing external partnerships, board meetings, monthly meetings, industry relations events / activities
    • Complete purchase order process for HR vendors.
    • Full cycle recruitment for assigned business units.
    • Employee onboarding for assigned business units.
    • Manage talent development process for assigned business units
    • Monitor and manage learning management system for assigned business units

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 3-5 years directly related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • CPHR designation or in process of obtaining preferred
  • Valid driver's license
