Position Overview:

As an Engineering Estimator at Raymond EMC, youll play a central, high-profile role in winning new business and shaping our strategic direction. Youll partner with Engineering & Design, Sales, and Operations to devise cost-effective solutions - from early concept through turnkey system delivery - that meet the complex needs of our clients. Your expertise will ensure rapid, accurate proposals that reinforce Raymond EMCs reputation as an industry leader.

  • Position Type:Full-time, In Office
  • Location:400-1430 Blair Towers Place, Ottawa ON
  • Compensation:$65,000/year, depending on experience
  • Flexible Scheduling:While this role requires an 8-hour workday in the office, employees have the flexibility to choose their start and end times within a defined range to support work-life balance.
  • Time Off:
    • 3 weeks of paid vacation per year
    • 5 paid sick days per year

Responsibilities:

  • Support the sales team in client conference calls and/or meetings to obtain scope of work.
  • Analyze customer technical and commercial requirements to identify cost drivers, trade-offs, and risks
  • Prepare end-to-end estimates covering internal labor, materials, third-party equipment/services, delivery, installation, and commissioning
  • Collaborate with Sales to develop technical approaches and commercial models under tight deadlines and competitive bid scenarios
  • Consult with multidisciplinary Engineering and Operations teams to refine project scopes and draft third-party solicitations
  • Engage vendors: define scope of supply, solicit bids, and reconcile gaps or inconsistencies in proposals with appropriate contingencies
  • Select and apply estimation methods (historical data extrapolation, parametric analysis, etc.) to meet proposal needs
  • Draft proposals to cover technical proposal based on client scope, assumptions, exclusions, all financial information (margin, fx rates) and contractual terms (taxes, duties)
  • Lead collaboration with Project Management and Operations teams in order to further inform costing strategy
  • Field post-submission queries and support client interactions as needed
  • Continuously improve estimating processes and templates alongside the Lead Estimator
  • Utilize HubSpot CRM for workflow management, pipeline tracking, and reporting

Requirements:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Willingness to consent to a criminal background check
  • Ability to obtain a Level 1 Security Clearance with the Government of Canada
  • Minimum 2 years experience in engineering estimationor similar
  • Minimum of 3 years post-graduate professional work experience inCanadain a relevant field
  • Proven ability to interpret complex requirements, drawings, andspecifications as part of the sales process
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and estimating software
  • Have a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills that can be applied to a highly technical environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of conveying technical concepts clearly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Collaborative team player who can also work autonomously
  • Demonstrate integrity, adaptability, and a strong team-orientedand pro-activemindset

Assets:

  • 35 years estimating multidisciplinary engineering solutions from concept through turnkey delivery
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, CET, or a related technical field
  • Credentials in commercial or estimating disciplines
  • Experience with HubSpot or similar CRM platforms
