POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Estimator will be responsible for the preparation of material and quantity take-offs and estimates from architectural drawings, as well as preparing product breakdowns for costing and all costs associated with tendered estimates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working as part of a team and alongside the Estimating Manager you will produce quotations covering all aspects of architectural panels, cladding and metal roofing.
Review scope of work, specifications, and addendums for projects.
Produce accurate quantity take offs to determine appropriate project costs.
Attend scope meetings with customers.
Produce project estimates and customer quotations.
Collaborate with department peer groups to ensure that best practices, high quality quotation documents, and competitive pricing is provided consistently and in a professional manner.
Communicate with Suppliers and Subcontractors for technical support and pricing.
Maintenance of job files, project digital database, attend project meeting's, client meetings and senior management meetings when required.
Attending pretender site meetings to prepare an accurate estimate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have construction estimating experience in the building envelope trades, specifically with cladding and architectural panel scopes of work. Experience should be based in institutional, commercial, industrial, high-rise type projects.
Skill level required for this position would be considered intermediate, with a good understanding of industry standard detailing, assemblies and materials.
Exceptional teamwork and communication skills (extremely proficient in English) with a strong attention to detail.
Experience forming project RFI's (Request For Information)
Experience putting forward Value Engineering proposals for cost efficiency or improved product performance.
Need to be proficient in MS Office programs, particularly Excel and Word.
Familiar with digital take-off software (Bluebeam)
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment which is very deadline focused.
Strong/above average math skills
EDUCATION:
College or post graduate degree preferably in Architectural Technology.
Candidates with construction experience and a strong ability to interpret construction drawings and project specifications may be considered.
