The successful candidate ensures that all required work is undertaken and deadlines are met in an efficient and effective manner. The Team Lead, Accounting Services also supervises assigned Accounting Services Clerks. This position is for a term of 12 Months.

Information For Applicants:
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting, the Team Lead, Accounting Services is responsible for overseeing assigned accounting functions while ensuring compliance. The successful candidate ensures that all required work is undertaken and deadlines are met in an efficient and effective manner. The Team Lead, Accounting Services also supervises assigned Accounting Services Clerks. This position is for a term of 12 Months.
What YOU'RE Responsible for:
- Lead and supervise a team for timely and accurate processing of assigned accounting functions.
- Review Accounting Service Clerk's batches for accuracy and post to subledger and general ledger.
- Carry out and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, programs and accounting systems as they affect assigned functions.
- Direct and provide recommendations regarding the recruitment and performance management of Accounting Services Clerks
- Analyze, reconcile, balance and post batches and journal entries.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations for ledger and sub-ledger accounts.
- Resolve escalated issues arising from Accounting Services Clerks.
- Support Monthly, Quarterly, and Year End Reporting.
- Propose and coordinate payment runs.
- Assist with annual audit preparations.
- Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of noncompliance.
- Responsible for Master Sub-ledger Account Maintenance (Vendors, Customer Accounts, Tax Roll)
- Ensure compliance and stay abreast of changes regarding legislation/standards as they relate to Municipal Bylaws, CRA, and MGA.
- Provide advice and recommendations based on noted legislation and accounting best practices
- Ensure adherence to Legislative regulations, Safety Directives and procedures and all respectful workplace standards.
- Attend regular safety meetings and promote a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business.
- Three years of progressive experience, in a municipal setting preferred.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional accounting designation would be considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
- A salary range of $85,121.40 - $111,056.40 per annum (based on experience and qualifications)
