Dufferin Child and Family Services is a multi-service agency providing Children's Mental Health, Child Protection and Developmental Support.
The agency currently requires: 2- Casual Part Time - After Hours Workers.
You are seeking:
  • A dynamic and unique professional opportunity to conduct crisis-oriented children and youth mental health intervention as well as child protection intervention.

We are seeking an individual with an ability to:
  • Assume responsibility for all emergency calls directed to them by the agency's answering service.
  • Provide consultation and/or intervention to children and/or youth who are experiencing a mental health crisis and that meets criteria for urgent, after-hours support.
  • Provide consultation and/or intervention for all urgent child protection matters as governed by the CYFSA.
  • Develop familiarity with, and adhere to, all agency policies, standards of service, procedures, and legislation relevant to the provision of after-hours services.
  • Complete Intakes in CPIN reports for child protection cases and serious occurrence reporting as necessary.
  • Provide written reports of all activities and/or referrals received while on duty to the agency by the end of each shift.
  • Consult with the after-hours Supervisor for child protection investigations and crisis mental health calls.
Qualifications:
  • Authorized Child Protection Worker.
  • Requires minimum educational qualifications of university education in the social services field, preferably at the Bachelor of Social Work level.
  • An innovative individual with an ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated abilities with respect to sound judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Significant experience in child protection; experience with CPIN an asset.
  • Experience in children's mental health crisis evaluation.
  • Able to work under stress, often at undetermined hours during evenings and weekends.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G or G2), and access to a reliable vehicle and car insurance.
