Your RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Tax to lead all aspects of tax strategy, compliance and reporting. This is a hands-on role that requires a confident self-starter who can operate independently and take ownership of the company's tax function. Reporting directly to the CFO and the VP, Corporate Reporting, the Director of Tax will play a key role in ensuring compliance, optimization and long-term value creation.
This role is ideally suited to a detail-oriented professional who thrives working independently and is passionate about maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines—without the high-pressure demands of constant tax planning or advisory work.Day to Day
  • Oversee all corporate income tax compliance for the parent company and its subsidiaries, including federal and provincial filings.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions in accordance with ASPE for quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Support various finance and business initiatives, including M&A due diligence and structuring.
  • Lead correspondence with tax authorities, including audits, reassessments, and inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities for tax optimization while ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial tax laws, including sales tax and other indirect taxes
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax changes and assess impact on the company.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and auditors as needed.
  • Maintain and continuously improve internal processes and controls related to tax.
Required Qualifications
  • CPA designation required; In-depth Tax Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive tax experience, including experience in a corporate tax role within a large private or public company, or with a national accounting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax law and ASPE tax provision requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of taking initiative and delivering results with minimal supervision.
