Registered Early Childhood Educator:

In this role, you'll provide care and developmental services to pre-school children. Working with our Junior Supervisor and other colleagues, you'll ensure the safety and security of the children and plan and deliver programming designed to facilitate their social, cognitive, emotional, and physical development.

On a practical level, you will:

  • Plan and deliver educational programming that is child-directed and teacher-supported in accordance with “How Does Learning Happen” principles
  • Provide support to all children in the classroom and understand each child's specific needs to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Support children with emotional, physical, or behavioural problems and help them to develop their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills
  • Ensure the health, safety, and security of children by accurately recording information related to medical conditions, allergies, and emergency contact
  • Work with professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and early interventionists as necessary
  • Support children through transitions in and out of the classroom
  • Meet all classroom ratios as outlined in CCEYA

You'll work Monday to Friday with rotating start and finish times between 7:00 am and 6:30 pm. On occasion, you may need to work a few minutes past 6:30.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in early childhood education from a recognized college or university
  • Member in good standing of the College of ECE's or Director Approved by the Ministry of Education
  • Experience as an Early Childhood Educator in a professional capacity
  • Experience with iCare or similar software for documentation and reporting purposes
  • Experience working with special needs children is an asset
  • Vulnerable sector criminal reference check (within the last six months) or ability to obtain VSCRC as a condition of employment
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C or ability to obtain same as a condition of employment
