Position Summary
We are seeking aMechanical Engineer in Training (EIT)for a6-month secondmentto support afield-based water usage data collection projectwith one of our clients in theVancouver area. This role will be primarilysite-focused, involving hands-on data gathering and collaboration with field teams to support the projects success.
Following the completion of this secondment, the successful candidate will transition to ahybrid rolebased out ofLaurens Vancouver office, contributing to a variety of engineering projects across sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Support field data collection efforts related to water usage, including equipment setup, monitoring, and reporting.
- Collaborate with client and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely data acquisition.
- Assist in the development of conceptual and detailed 3D layouts and engineering drawings, including P&IDs.
- Create mechanical equipment component lists and assist with materials selection.
- Prepare vendor RFQ documentation and mechanical engineering documents (lists, datasheets, etc.).
- Provide technical support to field personnel and contribute to troubleshooting efforts.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams in oil & gas, mining, and renewable energy sectors.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with APEGA or EGBC and in good standing.
- 24 years of relevant engineering experience, ideally in field engineering or EPC projects.
Skills & Knowledge
- Experience with mechanical equipment, piping systems, and mechanical design.
- Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs and performing calculations (wall thickness, pressure tests, etc.).
- Familiarity with ASME B31.3, CSA Z662, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, Primavera P6, and SharePoint.
Additional Information
- This is a6-month secondmentbased in theVancouver area, with a strong focus onon-site field work.
- Upon completion, the role transitions to ahybrid office-based position in Vancouver, supported by ourEngineers in Training Mentorship Program.
