Founded in 1918, CNIB is one of Canada's oldest charities. For more than 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing exciting, safe, and accessible camp experiences for Canadians with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Camp Communications & Operations Assistantto help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for ‘kids of all ages' with sight loss, and their families!

Your Impact at CNIB
  • Assist the team with the development and fostering of an inclusive, empowered culture where every team member – staff and volunteer – feels their contributions towards our mission are equally valued and respected.
  • Ensure understanding of, and compliance with, all CNIB's policies and procedures.
  • Champion CNIB's high standard of client and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by staff and volunteers, and continuously upheld across all aspects of camp operations.
  • Assists in generating timely, relevant and engaging content for promotional purposes, including social media updates, etc.
  • Helps organize and coordinate the representation of CNIB Lake Joe at public awareness events.
  • Supports the philanthropy team in the execution of CNIB Lake Joe's annual signature fundraising event.
  • Participates in / contributes to CNIBLakeJoe@Home programming, supporting staff in virtual programs and engaging with clients.
  • Participates in / contributes to CNIB Lake Joe in-person programming as required.

Requirements

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • Enrolled in a recognized Business Certificate Program, or equivalent job-related experience.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience working in an office environment in an administrative role is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of human resources, finance, marketing & communications or similar field an asset.
  • Administrative and operational experience an asset
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven time management and organization skills; amenable to changing priorities, deadlines and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong photography/videography skills and experience with design software an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • Experience working in a database environment, including queries.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, self-directed and flexible.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, sometimes under pressure.
  • Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Work Environment

  • This position will reside at CNIB Lake Joe for the program season from June – August and will share accommodations with other staff members. All housing and meals are provided at no cost.
  • Respects the importance of confidential information while effectively functioning as a team member or working independently.
  • This position may require the ability to work occasional overtime/flex time.
  • Minimum travel may be required.
