ModiFace's patented technology is based on more than a decade of advanced facial recognition research at the University of Toronto and in collaboration with L'Oréal's Research and Innovation teams. Our service includes live 3D makeup and skin care simulation, anti- aging/skin-care diagnostics, and live hair colour simulation.
We are looking for a Director, Business Operations to oversee the day-to-day operational functions of the company, ensuring that everything from people management to event planning runs smoothly. This role will play a key part in ensuring operational excellence across the organization, working closely with various departments to streamline processes, support growth initiatives, and maintain a cohesive company culture. A successful candidate in this role must be able and enjoy wearing multiple hats.
Please note that this is a fixed contract 14-month position covering a Maternity Leave.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee HR: Lead and manage a small HR team, ensuring best practices in recruitment, talent management, employee engagement, and performance reviews. Work to create a dynamic and inclusive workplace environment where people thrive.
- Coordinate Across Domains: Work with our CEO, CFO, and General Counsel on key business operations such as financial planning, compliance, and legal matters. Act as a central coordinator, ensuring that all essential operational aspects of the company are aligned.
- People and Logistics: Manage office logistics and facilities to ensure smooth daily operations. This includes overseeing the maintenance of physical workspaces and virtual environments, ensuring that both are optimized to support productivity and collaboration. Coordinate with internal teams to address any logistical challenges and ensure that all systems, supplies, and technologies are functioning properly.
- Events, Culture, and Team Building: Oversee the planning and execution of corporate events and team-building activities. Foster a positive workplace culture through initiatives that boost employee engagement and morale, helping to create a cohesive and motivated team environment.
- Travel and Conferences: Manage all aspects of corporate travel, including bookings, itineraries, and accommodations for team members attending conferences or working in different geographies.
What the Role Requires:
- 7+ years of experience in an HR or operations role, with an MBA or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
- Strong communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of engaging with employees at all levels of the company. Ability to synthesize information and present it to different stakeholders, from C-level executives to operational teams.
- People-oriented mindset: A strong focus on employee well-being, culture-building, and fostering a positive work environment. Experience in developing programs to enhance engagement and productivity.
- Attention to detail: Meticulous in ensuring the quality of work, whether in managing office logistics, planning events, or overseeing company operations. Strong organizational skills and a knack for ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
- Ability to manage diverse topics: A versatile professional who can pivot between different operational needs—whether it's HR, legal, finance, or facilities—while maintaining an overarching view of the company's business health.
