Salary: $120,000

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, and in collaboration with the leadership team, the Director of Fundraising & Engagement is responsible for leading the agencys planning, delivery and evaluation of initiatives to support the long-term financial viability of SHAREs operations and our commitment to a leadership role within the community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a fundraising strategy for the TriCities Foundry Youth Hub, that includes both capital and operational support.
  • Develops and implements a multi-year strategic philanthropy plan for SHARE to support the agencys capacity to achieve our priorities
  • Builds and maintains systems to enhance SHAREs fundraising capacity, including possibly establishing a Charitable Foundation, a legacy giving program, a corporate giving program, a securities strategy, a donor stewardship program, etc.
  • Builds and maintains systems to enhance SHAREs community engagement, partnerships and leadership, including through a corporate engagement plan, annual events plan, communication and branding strategy, and social media plan
  • Provides leadership, direction and oversight to the Community Engagement Team, including direct supervision of the Manager of Community Engagement. Manages any labour relations issues related to hiring, performance appraisal, discipline, etc.
  • Provides leadership, direction and oversight of SHAREs annual fundraising activities
  • Cooperates with the Senior Leadership Team in: operationalizing strategic priorities; compliance with all standards and policies; budget oversight and management; and collaboration with community stakeholders
  • Collaborates with SHAREs Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the organizational vision is reflected in operations and systems that subscribe to the strategic direction of the organization as set by the Board of Directors and the CEO
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of emerging trends and developments in fundraising, charitable giving, communications/marketing/branding, financial investment, and related fields
  • Proposes and implements new initiatives; develops and implements action plans; conducts evaluations; and ensures that reports on all initiatives are delivered within the timelines required
  • Strives to continue the tradition of SHAREs service excellence and inspires staff while leading by example

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors or a Masters in a related discipline (equivalent work experience and training may be considered in the absence of post-secondary education).
  • Certification as a fundraising professional is an asset.
  • Will have at least 10 years of relevant work experience in areas of financial management, charitable operations, communications/marketing and/or fundraising.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of day-to-day fundraising strategies, approaches, donations management, tracking and evaluation.
  • Expertise in investment strategies and wealth management is an asset.
  • Demonstrated successes in community building and partnerships.
  • Knowledge of marketing, branding and communication best practices and platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and to build and manage relationships.

Compensation

  • Salary commensurate with experience; current annual salary starting at $120,000.
  • Benefits include 100% employer paid health and other benefits, including: life, long-term disability and extended health and dental;
    four (4) weeks annual vacation; enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan.
