A. PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Under the direction of the Director of Niigaaniin Services, the Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Niigaaniins customized case management software GIIN; ensuring it meets the organizations needs for managing sensitive data.

This role combines expertise in database administration and software development, including coding both front-end and back-end components, optimizing Niigaaniins GIIIN Database, and integrating the system with other tools utilized by the organization.
The position requires a deep understanding of data management best practices, software architecture, and security, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver a robust, scalable solution.

B. QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field,
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on system design, coding, and database management preferably in Microsoft Dynamics 365,
  • Proven experience developing and deploying case management or enterprise applications from scratch,
  • Strong background in database administration and data management best practices,
  • Strong understanding of Client Relationship Management (CRM) processes and best practices,
  • Experience with system integrations, data migration, and customization,
  • Must have a clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Peoples Sector Check applicable to the responsibilities of this position,
  • Drivers license and access to a vehicle would be considered and asset, and
  • It is preferred for the applicant to be a registered band member of the First Nations serviced by Niigaaniin Services, including Batchewana First Nation, Garden River First Nation, Thessalon First Nation, Mississauga First Nation, Serpent River First Nation, Sagamok Anishnawbek, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, and Wahnapitae First Nation however not required.

Knowledge and Abilities:


  • Knowledge and understanding of Anishnaabemowin, culture and traditions of Indigenous people of the Robinson Huron Treaty,
  • Familiar with community services networks and knowledge the Niigaaniin Services would be an asset,
  • Must be Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Applications,
  • Must be Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics 365,
  • Must be Proficient in Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems that helps businesses manage their core processes,
  • Must be Proficient in Client Relationship Management (CRM) integration and multi-use CRM environments,
  • Must be proficient in Structured Query Language (SQL) server,
  • Must be proficient in Power BI and Java Script,
  • Must be proficient in Dataverse, Power Apps (Model-Driven), Table Security, Form Customizations, Power Automate ( for flows and automation), Security Roles and Business Units configuration,
  • Experience with SharePoint Integration, Excel- based reporting solutions, Documentation of changes and processes, Power Fx (used in calculated fields, testing/debugging in low-code platforms and understanding of managed vs. unmanaged solutions in power Apps,
  • Proficiency in programming languages,
  • Expertise in database management systems,
  • Experience with web development frameworks,
  • Strong ability problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues,
  • Prior experience in developing or working with case management or social services management software would be an asset,
  • Experience with database optimization and query performance tuning for large-scale systems,
  • Familiarity with secure software development practices and data protection standards,
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously,
  • Requires minimum supervision, able to work independently and maintains a supportive and cooperative environment with colleagues and the communities,

  • Must be detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering high-quality and efficient software solutions, and
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
