WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
As Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll and benefits for both our Canadian and U.S. divisions. This role reports to Finance and collaborates closely with Human Resources on cross-border payroll and benefits initiatives. Main responsibilities include:
- Oversee payroll processing across multiple Canadian provinces and U.S. states, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Manage ADP TeamPay (Canada) and ADP Workforce Now (U.S.) platforms; generate reports as needed to support business operations
- Liaise with employees regarding pay, deductions, and general inquiries
- Review and validate payroll data including new hires, offboarding, bonuses, salary adjustments, benefits, withholding tax and deductions
- Manage the end-to-end benefits process for the teams in terms of initiating new programs, managing and enhancing existing programs and being the first point of contact for brokers and employees
- Ensure full compliance with provincial, state and federal laws and regulations
- Support a growing workforce of 100+ employees across two countries, adapting processes to scale with the business
- Document payroll and benefits processes to support internal controls, audit readiness and operational continuity
- Lead year-end payroll processes and government filings and support audit requirements as needed
- Identify and lead process improvements to optimize payroll and benefits workflows
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- A minimum of 7 years of payroll experience; with at least 2 years of proven experience managing full-cycle payroll processes
- Solid knowledge of Canadian payroll practices; U.S. payroll experience is an asset
- Experience with major payroll systems specifically ADP is an asset
- A PCP, CPM or CPP designation is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills; both written and oral
- Experience administering benefit plans in either Canada and/or the U.S.
- Bilingualism is an asset
