Reporting to: Associate Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs

Salary:

$47.83 - $56.75/hour, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.

Description:


The English as a Second Language program provides Second Language students a pathway to academic success in post-secondary programming. The program is delivered by highly trained EASL instructors in small classes that focus on inclusion and community. By completing this program, students will meet the English entrance requirements for a variety of post-secondary programs at Northern Lights College and will enhance their communications skills for employment.


This is a term position from May 23 - June 30, 2025.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, plus a TESL certificate
  • Must have English as a first language
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Committed to student motivation and success.
  • Ability to collaborate as an effective team member; and
  • Current and valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in English, or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrable success in teaching at the post-secondary level
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential; and
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including international students.
