LEGAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – Health Law and Insurance Law LAA

We are currently seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to support two lawyers who work in our Insurance, Health, Workplace, and Commercial Litigation practice groups. The position provides an opportunity to work with a vibrant and team-oriented group of people. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience working in a Canadian law firm, be energetic, flexible, highly motivated and driven to succeed.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Liaise with other legal assistants, paralegals, lawyers and clients regarding file progress
Draft and transcribe legal documents, basic pleadings and correspondence
Manage and maintain bring forward system for tasks and appointments
Organize meetings and schedule discoveries, trials, and other court dates
Prepare application records
Field client inquiries
Keep paper and electronic files up to date, including creating binders, labels and CMPA files
Process all outgoing correspondence and sort incoming mail
Prepare expense reports
Prepare monthly accounts
Other general administrative duties as required
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Completion of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant
Advanced computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook
Keyboarding at a minimum or 60wpm
Excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills
A thorough understanding of civil litigation rules and procedures
Ability work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work and multiple lawyers in a fast paced
environment
Exposure to or experience with CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) considered an
asset
WHAT YOU BRING
Excellent written (grammar, spelling, proofreading) and verbal communication skills
High level organizational skills with a strong attention to detail to produce quality and accurate work
Ability to prioritize tasks by deadline, work calmly under pressure and manage high volume of work
in a fast paced environment
Proven ability to take initiative and be proactive, as well as follow instructions and adhere to strict
deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with lawyers, paralegals and legal
assistants
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a contributing member in a team environment
Positive, professional, can-do attitude

The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000 annually.
Actual compensation will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's relevant education, experience and qualifications.
