Position Summary:

The Director of Philanthropy is a senior professional leading the FVCDC's fund development function. This vital work includes the development and implementation of a robust, future-focused fundraising program, administration of fundraising tools and information, and engagement of donors, members, Board and staff committees, and volunteers. It's an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people and their families.

The position is part-time, hybrid, and will need to have a regular physical presence in the Centre's Abbotsford office.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Development Planning and Fundraising

  • Work with the CEO and the Board of Directors to ensure the development and execution of the agency's short- and long-term fundraising plans.
  • Research, develop and execute strategies and tactics for fundraising through major gifts, endowments, grants, service clubs, events, corporate support, planned giving, and other methods as appropriate.
  • Ensure recognition and reporting requirements are met for all fundraising initiatives.
  • Attend Board, committee and staff/leadership meetings to gather input and report on outcomes.
  • Liaise with and participate in relevant associations and organizations to remain current in the field.
  • Maintain an awareness of current fundraising programs, practices, trends, and potential supporters.
  • Lead and organize the planning and execution of fundraising events like our annual golf tournament, including securing sponsorships and mobilizing staff and external volunteers.
  • Collaborate with, and provide guidance to, the Communications Specialist and Digital Marketing Consultant related to fund development.
  • Develop and manage the Centres donors and funders database.
  • Provide guidance to students where applicable.

Qualifications and Skills required:

  • University degree or diploma in business, marketing, public relations, or fundraising. CFRE designation preferred.
  • Sound knowledge and a minimum of five to seven years experience in a range of fundraising and event planning activities in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Experience and success in obtaining major gifts, endowments, and corporate support, and in implementing planned giving campaigns.
  • Proven ability in identification of prospects, cultivation and solicitation of donors, and proposal development.
  • Knowledge of the local and provincial charitable sector in British Columbia, Canada.
  • Knowledge of the current tax law, as it relates to charitable giving and understanding of non-profit regulations and compliance issues.
