About the Role

As the IT & Systems Champion at Work Nicer, youll serve as the technical backbone of our team, responsible for everything IT-related across our Alberta outposts. From managing network stability and security to ensuring seamless tech support for our team and members, youll be hands-on with day-to-day troubleshooting while keeping an eye on strategic IT improvements. Youll be both a doer and a champion, working directly with our Founder & CEO and collaborating closely with the rest of the team to shape the future of our tech infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

Provide responsive, friendly tech support for Work Nicers team and community members, tackling everything from network issues to printer malfunctions.

Solve tech problems efficiently with a focus on long-term fixes, ensuring minimal recurrence of issues.

Network & Cybersecurity Management

Oversee network management to maintain optimal performance; collaborate with ISPs to address any issues.

Implement cybersecurity best practices, including data protection, access controls, and regular assessments to detect and address potential vulnerabilities.

IT Infrastructure & Asset Management

Manage the lifecycle of hardware and software, overseeing deployment, maintenance, and replacement to keep systems up-to-date and secure.

Maintain inventory and remote monitoring systems, utilizing tools like Addigy to ensure device compliance and efficient resource allocation.

Policy & Documentation Development

Develop and document IT policies and procedures that reflect industry best practices, addressing everything from device security protocols to offboarding processes.

Clearly document solutions, guidelines, and troubleshooting steps for both internal teams and community members to create a transparent, accessible IT landscape.

Software Integration & Data Management

Automation & API Management: Integrate and manage software tools, automations, and API connections to streamline Work Nicers workflows and improve efficiency.

Data Warehousing & Reporting: Oversee data warehousing and ensure accurate data collection, storage, and accessibility for reporting and analysis.

Collaborative Tools Management: Set up, maintain, and enhance collaborative software systems that support team productivity, ensuring seamless integration and data flow across platforms.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve data processes, optimize reporting, and leverage new technologies to enhance operational insights and decision-making.

Strategic IT Planning & Innovation

Continuously evaluate Work Nicers tech environment and recommend improvements to stay ahead of evolving technology and member needs.

Act as a trusted advisor with decision-making authority for IT strategy, subject to initial approval. This role requires someone who can present ideas confidently and act with a ownership mindset.

Lay a strong tech foundation that enables Work Nicer to focus resources on innovative projects, enhancing member experience and community engagement with new technologies.

Flexible Availability & Crisis Support

Demonstrate flexibility with availability for urgent IT issues, understanding that while always-on-call isnt required, a willingness to assist with critical issues as they arise is essential to maintaining the flexibility Work Nicer values.
