Our Next Senior Mining Engineer
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer to join our team. This role will provide technical oversight and leadership to Okanes current and future mining team and support building our Integrated Life of Mine and Tailings Planning service offering.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate care about the well-being of yourself and others through active safetyleadership.
- Provide leadership, training, technical guidance, strategic direction and mentorship to the mining team and other technical disciplines ensuring core processes and technical standards are followed.
- Apply an advanced understanding of mining engineering principles to progress and guide the development of design surfaces, schedules and costs in support of mine, tailings and closure plan development and design.
- Lead the development of proposals including work scopes and estimation of schedule and costs.
- Prepare, review and authenticate advanced technical documentation and reports for technical quality and assurance.
- Project management, including managing budget, scope, and schedule.
- Facilitate workshops, including risk assessments and multiple accounts analyses with various stakeholders, including internal and external project support.
- Interact competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels ofexpertise.
- Develop strong relationships with clients, foster existing client relationships, and leverage client relationships to generate new leads and opportunities or initiate referrals.
Job Requirements
- Strong understanding of first principles with a fundamental knowledge of mine and/or tailings planning.
- Operational or closure experience within the mining industry is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of regulatory and legislative frameworks is an asset.
- Strong project management skills and ability to lead interdisciplinary project teams.
- Ability and willingness to coordinate with peers and clients in different time zones.
- Experience using relevant software packages such as Hexagon MinePlan and/or Deswik.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills for leadership at both the strategic and tactical levels.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and experience with writing and reviewing proposals, technical reports, and/or regulatory submissions.
- Travel as required to support workshops, client meetings and/or site visits.
- Bachelors or post-graduate degree in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering and a Licensed Professional Engineer.
