Summary:
Under direct supervision and with high attention to safety, operates forklift to load/unload and move material within or near plant/warehouse, yard or worksite as well as, on and off trucks. Moves finished goods into place and may assist with tubular / rewinding operations. Actively participates in 5s practices, including ensuring material is available and ready for the Machine Operators/teams in advance of them needing it. Receives and verifies materials against PO's/ invoices to ensure accuracy of delivery. Co-ordinates with Ops Admin Assistant to maintain records of goods received. Rejects damaged goods or materials and corresponds with Quality Department. to adjust damages or shortages. Data entry of orders and applicable information into Forum's EAP system. Prepares and maintains shipping records, makes up bills of lading, and posts weight and shipping charges as required. Verifies correctness of incoming shipments against bills of lading. Responsible for putting inventory in designated areas, cycle counting, as well as picking orders. Completes daily checks on forklifts; may troubleshooting malfunctions; notifying when repairs are needed. Documents actions, completes production and quality logs. May perform additional production/warehousing duties as assigned.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensures raw materials are well identified and available (pulled from racking if necessary) for production in all areas, utilizing 5s practices to prevent any down time of the machines
- Assist production in bottleneck area's which may include armoring, rewind, prestress machine and extrusion areas as necessary
- Organize, identify, and maintain racking with raw material in a safe and efficient manner
- Remove and dispose of all scrap material
- Verifies and co-ordinates all records on incoming and outgoing shipments with the Operation Admin Assistant and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
- Prepares and packages items for shipping, using proper methods and supplies.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- May receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment
- Assist with cycle counting as necessary
- Puts inventory away in designated areas
- Assist in receiving processes
- Maintains good housekeeping practices.
- Daily Assembly of Wood Reels
- Able to lift 45lbs routinely
Skills/Knowledge
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Forklift certification preferred
- Forklift Train the Trainer an asset
- Good organizational skills
- Familiar with shipping and receiving documentation
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- 4+ years of experience, in a similar environment
- 3+ years of Forklift experience preferred
- 3+ years of Material Handling experience.
