Position Overview
Malahat Skywalk is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Operations Labourer to join our team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining our outdoor attraction by performing facility upkeep, landscaping, and supporting various operational needs. Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
In this role, you will:
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the site, including washroom cleaning, landscaping, trail maintenance, waste management, and snow removal (seasonal).
- Support Tower and Slide attendants when required.
- Assist with setting up and taking down equipment for events, tours, and seasonal activities.
- Conduct inspections of Boardwalk, Tower, trails, pathways, and visitor spaces to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Transport supplies and materials across the site.
- Perform minor repairs and report maintenance concerns to the appropriate team.
- Assist with crowd control and traffic management during peak hours.
- Provide assistance to guests, offering directions or basic information about the attraction.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a secure environment for visitors and staff.
- Respond promptly to on-site emergencies, following established safety procedures.
- Support other Malahat SkyWalk departments as needed to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience, Abilities and Qualifications To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:
- Valid BC Driver's License required.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively while multitasking.
- Previous experience in maintenance, landscaping, or general labour is an asset but not required.
- First Aid and CPR certification - Basic First Aid (OFA Level 1 (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience operating tools and equipment (e.g., leaf blowers, woodchippers, pressure washers) is an asset.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
- Physically demanding role - must be comfortable standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
- Capacity to safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Asset Qualifications
The following qualifications are not mandatory; however, they are preferred and will be considered assets:
- Proficiency in a second language.
Work Conditions
- This position requires flexibility to accommodate the needs of the business, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
- Cross-training in other departments will be required to support the overall guest experience at Malahat SkyWalk. You will also be required to learn about our location, its history, foliage and geography, etcetera in order to answer questions from our guests.
- This position requires working in variable weather conditions.
